Parag Honour List 2020

Parag Honour List 2020 is a curated collection of outstanding books in English and Hindi for children and young adults by Parag Initiative of Tata Trusts. This list, published annually, comprises noteworthy books of the year with brief information about each title. It has been created with careful screening and multiple reviews by experts in the children’s literature sector. The list aims to promote access to a comprehensive, curated list of good quality children’s literature that librarians, teachers, parents, and children can refer to and read.

Mini Shrinivasan

Mini Shrinivasan is an educationist, teacher educator and children’s writer based in Pune. Her books have won the Sahitya Akademi’s Bal Sahitya Puraskar and the Hindu Young World Goodbooks Award. She enjoys children, travelling and reading, and tries to draw and paint, with varying degrees of success.

Sandhya Rao

Sandhya Rao worked for many years in mainstream print media as an editor and writer before she seamlessly slipped into the world of children’s publishing. She is the author of several books and has translated Astrid Lindgren’s Pippi Långstrump into Hindi. Based in Chennai, she works freelance and enjoys the challenge of new discoveries. She believes that when we share food and stories, we give ourselves a better chance.

Usha Mukunda

Usha Mukunda

Usha Mukunda is a passionate advocate of conversations around books with children and young adults. She has been happily engaged in such interactions for 35 years. She is also deeply interested in learning about, and sharing the nuances of good literature for children. Usha is a well-known children’s librarian who has set up and run many school libraries. She is founding faculty of Parag’s Library Educators Course. Her greatest wish is to enable discernment of good books in herself, and in readers wherever they may abide.

अरुण कमल

अरुण कमल हिन्दी कवि एवं निबंधकार हैं। उनकी कविता के छह संग्रह एवं तीन चयन तथा साहित्य संबंधी निबंधों की तीन पुस्तकें प्रकाशित हुई हैं। उनकी बच्चों के लिए दो किताबें छप रही हैं, जिनका नाम है हवामिठाई एवं एक चोर की चौदह रातें। अरुण कमल पटना विश्वविद्यालय में अँग्रेजी के शिक्षक रहे हैं। उन्हें कविता के लिए साहित्य अकादेमी पुरस्कार (१९९८), भारतीय भाषा परिषद का समग्र कृतित्व सम्मान(१९१४) समेत अनेक पुरस्कार मिली है।

मनोज कुमार

मनोज पिछले दो दशकों से हिन्दी साहित्य और स्कूली शिक्षा के क्षेत्र में सक्रिय हैं। उन्होने नब्बे के दशक में दिल्ली विश्विद्यालय से हिन्दी साहित्य में एम. ए. और एम. फिल. की डिग्री हासिल की और कुछ समय तक अलग-अलग विश्वविद्यालयों में हिन्दी भाषा और साहित्य का अध्यापन किया। सम्प्रति वे अज़ीम प्रेमजी विश्वविद्यालय में ‘हिन्दी भाषा-शिक्षण’ और ‘शिक्षा के समाजशास्त्र’ के अध्यापन से जुड़े हुए हैं। ‘बाल साहित्य’ के क्षेत्र में मनोज की विशेष रुचि है क्योंकि यह शैक्षिक गतिविधि का एक ऐसा क्षेत्र हैं जिसमें शिक्षा के साथ साहित्यिक और सौंदर्यशास्त्रीय विमर्श की गुंज़ाइश है।

तेजी ग्रोवर

तेजी ग्रोवर कवि, कथाकार, चित्रकार, अनुवादक हैं। बाल-साहित्य के क्षेत्र में सक्रिय रहते हुए उन्होंने कई बाल-पुस्तकें भी तैयार की हैं। उन्हें कई पुरस्कारों से भी सम्मानित किया गया है। इनकी कविताएँ देश-विदेश की तेरह भाषाओँ में, और नीला शीर्षक से एक उपन्यास और कई कहानियाँ पोलिश और अंग्रेजी में अनूदित हैं । अभी तक चित्रों की सात एकल और तीन समूह प्रदर्शनियां देश-विदेश में हो चुकी हैं। 2019 में उन्हें वाणी फाउंडेशन विशिष्ट अनुवादक सम्मान, और स्वीडन के राजा और रानी द्वारा “रॉयल आर्डर ऑफ़ पोलर स्टार (Knight)” की उपाधि प्रदान की गयी ।

Children’s literature is an important means of imaginative engagement not just in promoting overall growth and development, but also has a critical role in wellbeing. Children’s literature has a role to play in helping children talk about a range of issues such as gender, caste and class. Parag New Release

Parag supports publication of original stories and translations for children across the age group of 3-16 years. Parag Catalogue

The Parag catalogue provides a sneak peak into the books supported since 2005, their central themes and ideas. The books are categorized according to age groups and genres. However, the categorization is suggestive and their most effective usage lies in the hands of readers/story tellers/educators/parents. Books marked for ages 6+ can be read aloud to young children, while Teachers’ Resource books can be read by teens. Books are listed under one category to avoid duplication. This annotated catalogue lists the books published by the Trusts’ partners, under picture books, poems, young readers, activity Books and teachers’ resource books.
