Parag Honour List 2025 brings a curated collection of outstanding books in English and Hindi, for children, young readers, and young adults.
An initiative of Tata Trusts, the Parag Honour List, published annually, comprises of noteworthy books of the year with brief information about each title. It has been created after careful screening and multiple reviews by experts in the children’s literature sector.
The list aims to promote access to good quality children’s literature that librarians, teachers, parents, and children can refer to and read.
As per this year’s criteria, we received 300+ submissions in original writing in the category of early reader, young reader, and young adult from 57 Indian publishers. These books were published between October 2023 and September 2024 as fiction, non-fiction, and poetry.
We hope this list will enable a wider readership to some of the best Indian children’s books!
पराग ऑनर लिस्ट 2025, बच्चों और किशोर पाठकों के लिए इस वर्ष की हिंदी और अंग्रेज़ी की बेहतरीन किताबों की चयनित सूची प्रस्तुत करती है।
टाटा ट्रस्ट्स की पहल, पराग ऑनर लिस्ट, प्रतिवर्ष श्रेष्ठ बाल साहित्य को पहचान कर लाइब्रेरियन, शिक्षकों, अभिभावकों और बच्चों तक पहुँचाती है। यह सूची चयनित किताबों का संक्षिप्त परिचय देती है। कई स्तर स्क्रीनिंग और समीक्षाओं के बाद, बाल साहित्य की गहरी समझ और जानकारी रखने वाले विशेषज्ञ इस सूची को तैयार करते हैं।
तय किए गए मानदंडों के अनुसार 2025 की ऑनर लिस्ट की चयन प्रक्रिया में शामिल होने के लिए 57 प्रकाशकों से कथा, कथेतर और कविता विधाओं में 300+ किताबें प्राप्त हुईं। यह किताबें अक्टूबर 2023 से सितंबर 2024 के दौरान प्रकाशित हुईं| शुरुआती, नव और किशोर पाठकों के लिए लिखी गई ये मूल रचनाएँ हैं।
हमें आशा है कि यह सूची विविध पाठक वर्ग की हिन्दी और अंग्रेज़ी के सर्वश्रेष्ठ बाल साहित्य से परिचय कराएँगी।

Mini Shrinivasan is a children’s writer and teacher educator based in Pune. She has worked extensively in the field of early childhood and primary education for children in rural schools. Her books for pre-teens have won the Sahitya Akademi Bal Sahitya Puraskar and the Hindu Young World award. She also writes for very young, early learners. In her free time she tries unsuccessfully to draw and sing.

Now she teaches courses in how to teach reading and children’s literature. She believes that reading for pleasure is the best thing that you can do with your time. अरुण कमल हिंदी के कवि एवं निबंधकार हैं। उनके छह कविता संग्रह, तीन चयन तथा साहित्यिक निबंधों की पुस्तकें प्रकाशित हुई हैं। उन्होंने बच्चों के लिए दो किताबें लिखी हैं, जिनके नाम “हवा मिठाई” और “एक चोर की चौदह रातें” हैं। अरुण कमल पटना विश्वविद्यालय में अंग्रेज़ी के प्राध्यापक रहे हैं। उन्हें कविता के लिए साहित्य अकादमी पुरस्कार (1998), भारतीय भाषा परिषद का समग्र कृतित्व सम्मान समेत अनेक पुरस्कार मिले हैं।

मनीषा चौधरी 1986 से किताबोंं की दुनिया से जुड़ी हुई हैं। नारीवादी प्रकाशन केे साथ काम करते हुए उन्होंंने कई महत्वपूर्ण अनुवाद किए हैं, जिन्हें समीक्षकोंं ने सराहा है और कई पुरस्कारों सेे सम्मानित भी किया गया है। हर बच्चे को अपनी ज़बान में मज़ेदार किस्से-कहानियाँँ पढ़ने का मौका मिले इस कोशिश में मनीषा ने बतौर संंपादक, लेखक और अनुवादक बहुभाषीय बाल साहित्य प्रकाशन की गतिविधियोंं में काफ़ी समय गुज़ारा है। अक्कड़ बक्कड़ बोलने का मज़ा हो या सुनसान रात में जंंगल का रास्ता पकड़ने का रोमांंच, है तो सारा खेल भाषा का। ये खेल सभी के लिए सुलभ हो और बहुत कुछ सोचने, समझने और महसूस करने के लिए स्वच्छंंद वातावरण मिले इसी तमन्ना को लेकर काम करना मनीषा को अच्छा लगता है।

Parag supports publication of original stories and translations for children across the age group of 3-16 years. The main aim is to provide access to good quality story books for children in Indian languages. A wide range and variety of books have been released through various publishers and we are happy to share an array of new stories for different age groups with you.

The Parag catalogue provides a sneak peak into the books supported since 2005, their central themes and ideas. The books are categorized according to age groups and genres. However, the categorization is suggestive and their most effective usage lies in the hands of readers/story tellers/educators/parents. Books marked for ages 6+ can be read aloud to young children, while Teachers’ Resource books can be read by teens. Books are listed under one category to avoid duplication. This annotated catalogue lists the books published by the Trusts’ partners, under picture books, poems, young readers, activity Books and teachers’ resource books.
