Boarding and lodging for the 3 contact periods in Bhopal will be arranged at the course venue by the course team.
Costs for food and stay will have to be borne by the participant. Total cost is expected to be around Rs. 650 per day. All three contact periods (13 days) will be cost Rs. 8450.
LEC Hindi is open to all educators and intended for teachers, school librarians, development sector professionals, and literacy and language educators and in fact for every one working with children and books with the desire to spread the joy and culture of reading. The LEC offers a unique opportunity to strengthen understanding and academic thinking linked to practice in a well-designed, highly charged environment with some of the best library practitioners in the field.
The course comprises three contact sessions in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. LEC hindi has successfully completed seven batches. More than two hundred library educators and teachers from 43 organisations across 19 states have participated in the course

लाइब्रेरी एजुकेटर्ज़ कोर्स, हिंदी न केवल शिक्षकों या पुस्तकालयाध्यक्षों के लिए खुला है बल्कि स्कूली शिक्षा और विकास, साक्षरता और भाषा के क्षेत्रों में काम करने वाले और बच्चों और किताबों के साथ काम करने वाले प्रत्येक व्यक्ति को आमंत्रित करता है. यह कोर्स उनके लिए भी है जो पढ़ने की खुशी और संस्कृति को फैलाने की इच्छा रखते हैं। किताबों और पढ़ने के क्षेत्र में, लाइब्रेरी एजुकेटर्ज़ कोर्स, पुस्तकालय कार्य के अभ्यास से जुड़ी समझ और अकादमिक सोच को मजबूत करने का एक अनूठा अवसर प्रदान करता है। कुछ बेहतरीन पुस्तकालय विशेषज्ञों द्वारा इस कोर्स की संकल्पना की गई है और कोर्स का डिजाइन ऐसा है कि प्रतिभागियों को एक जीवंत लाइब्रेरी विकसित करने की सैद्धांतिक समझ बनाने व अभ्यास के भरपूर मौके देता है.
यह सात महीने का कोर्स है और इस की संरचना में 3 संपर्क अवधियां और डिस्टेंस मोड शामिल हैं. संपर्क अवधियों का भोपाल, मध्य प्रदेश में आयोजन किया जाता है. डिस्टेंस मोड के दौरान मूडल पर भागीदारी, असाइनमेंट पूरा करना और फील्ड प्रोजेक्ट्स को ग्रेड दिया जाता है। इस कोर्स को सात बैच सफलतापूर्वक पूरा कर चुके हैं। 19 राज्यों के 43 संगठनों के करीब ढाई सौ पुस्तकालय शिक्षकों को प्रशिक्षित किया गया है।

Nitu anchors the Library Educator’s Course (LEC) and works as a faculty. She also coordinates professional development and capacity building at Parag. She works closely with multiple state governments for strengthening capacity of professionals in education sector. Prior to joining Parag, she worked with the Literacy and Library Programme of Room to Read. Nitu began her career as a teacher-educator with District Institute of Education & Training, Madhya Pradesh. She has contributed articles on library and education in different educational journals. Her areas of interest are library, early literacy, reading and teacher’s education. She enjoys reading fiction and biographical narratives. Nitu loves to tell stories to children in the library and engages them with books. She likes traveling and observing local culture and history. She holds a Master’s degree in Education and English literature and has a keen interest in weaving stories through stitching and re-use of trash for library displays.

Shivani has worked in the field of primary education with NGOs like Eklavya, Nirantar and CEMD. She has organized a children’s book reading club for 6 years; where the focus was on inculcating a love for reading in primary school children. In the past, she has been associated with Tata Trusts as a library consultant and was part of the team that developed and facilitated the pilot round of the Library Educators’ Course. She has mentored LEC participants for three batches now and contributes towards LEC content and moodle discussions. She also works as a part time translator. Shivani holds a masters degree in Linguistics from the University of Delhi.

Sonika serves as the Lead for Professional Development vertical of Parag Initiative including the Library Educator’s Course in Hindi and the Children’s Library Course. As the core lead faculty, Sonika oversees implementation, content and strategic direction of the courses. Her areas of interest include development of literacy in the early years, literature for young children and academic development of teachers of young children. She led the Mathura Pilot Project, Reading Development Cell at the National Council of Educational Research and Training as one of the core team members. Her work with the reading and early literacy programmes at the NCERT spans nearly a decade. Sonika started her career as a primary school teacher in a village in Rajasthan and has taught in primary schools in Delhi for about six years. She has taught papers on pedagogy of language and children’s literature as a faculty at the Department of Elementary Education, Jesus and Mary College, University of Delhi. She has been involved extensively in-service programmes for teachers and teacher educators. She has designed and taught a paper on early language and literacy as guest faculty at I Am A Teacher. She has served on committees for textbook development (Delhi government, Hindi textbooks post-NCF), review of textbooks and review of children’s literature and committees for curriculum development of teacher education programmes. She has been a member of the Advisory Board to Room to Read. She holds a doctoral degree in education- early literacy from University of Delhi and was awarded the post-doctoral fellowship by the Indian Council of Social Science Research in 2019.

Anil has been working with various voluntary institutions for the last 25 years on the theme of elementary education. An expert in theatre, he has conducted many drama workshops for children. Having a keen interest in children’s literature, he writes stories and poems. His articles are published regularly in various journals and magazines and recently his book ‘Chamanlal Ke Paijamay’ was selected in the Parag Honor List 2020. Anil has been associated with Eklavya for story staging, child fairs, teacher training. Prior to this, he has been linked with Muskaan for a long time, working on the education of children from disadvantaged communities. For the last eight years, Anil has been working on an alternative model of child centered education in ‘Anand Niketan Democratic School’, Bhopal. He is a core faculty member at LEC. A graduate of education, mass communication and social work, Anil has a special interest in poetry presentation including storytelling and acting. Loves acting and music.
