This stunning wordless book shows the story of the Sun after it has set in the horizon. Imagined as a young woman, the Sun is fantastically portrayed in all her finery as she returns home. Inspired by Buddhist temples and houses on stilts in the Northeast, she spends time doing beautiful things at home. Then she goes out to meet her friends before going to sleep. Next day, Sun sets out again as the silver moon returns home. The watercolour drawings are exquisite both in their detail and in the expanse of the Sun’s world, beautifully immersing us in it.

A delightful book written in zingy verse about a rooster who just wouldn’t crow. The rather flashy rooster, dramatically drawn with long lashes, struts brilliantly through the pages of the book. Perfect for read alouds or dramatization, it’s a fun book to read collectively with lots of sounds thrown in. Various people’s insistence of pinning an identity is lost on the rooster who goes about the day without a care.
This is a happy cozy book about a grandmother, with no issues like illness or death lurking nearby. This grandmother is taking life really easy, after a lifetime of hard work. The little granddaughter watches her along with the family cat, and decides that her grandma is now a cat. Grandma agrees! A series of very sweet pictures and text show us how this is actually so, with grandma even showing off her tiny white whiskers. Here is an endearing elderly woman totally at ease with herself.
This book is an excellent introduction to different birds, their call impressions, and habitats. The narrative unfolds as a pair of parakeets lose their tree-hole nest when their host tree falls, and are told to look for a woodpecker to make a hole for their nest. When the parakeets finally meet the woodpecker — it refuses to drill a hole — this meets an unexpected solution. The lightly sketched illustrations are detailed and accurate, just as informative as the text itself.
