Proiti Roy received the Big Little Book Award, illustrator category, in 2017. She lives in Shantiniketan and spends her time illustrating, reading and looking after rescued dogs, 22 of them, who are her housemates. Proiti has been illustrating for children for over a decade through picture books, children’s magazines and textbooks. Her illustrations are always so sensitive with close attention to people and place.
Proiti’s inspiration is her daily life. She crafts her day through multiple tasks, from gardening, to caring for her family, with very special attention to her dogs, reading and of course illustrations. The heart of an artist lies in the making, connecting dots from reality to imagery. Illustrations reflect the illustrator, her choice, sensitivity and ways of exploring worlds. In Proiti’s day we find how these pieces fit.
