This story of a child being bullied is touching yet not overtly sentimental. The school’s lake and fictional characters from books become his friends and escape till he realises that he is not alone — there are others too, bullied for being different. Furthermore, it is a surprisingly good book designed for reading fluency, with good editing and a well-rounded ending. The subdued palette used for illustrations add to the quiet form of storytelling.
