Ashwini leads partnerships and grant-making of the Parag Initiative on children’s literature and libraries. She is a passionate advocate for children’s literature and has spent the past decade working in the sector in various capacities. Her roles have ranged from library program management to advocating for children’s voices in international literary awards. She has been a part of various stages in the life of a children’s text— market research, editing, reading promotion, book selling and academic analysis. She has witnessed the sector grow and she has grown with it. She holds an International Master’s in Children’s Literature, Media and Culture from the University of Glasgow, as an Erasmus Mundus Scholar. With a career rooted in both grassroots libraries and global academic research, Ashwini anchors philanthropic support of the Tata Trusts under the Parag Initiative. This entails working closely with carefully selected non-profit partners focused on developing children’s books, professional development initiatives, and reading promotion work across India.
